One of the greatest benefits of living in the 21st century is the accessibility of technology which can almost immediately make your life easier. This is almost doubly true for tasks that require a significant amount of planning, such as moving, and although you’d think an app couldn’t help much with something so physical, you’d be surprised (see TaskRabbit). This week we’re doing a rundown of some of the greatest apps that will help your moving process:
Craigslist might be the perfect moving app, not because of its organizational capabilities but because it’s your connection to the help you need, whether you need to rent something, employ some moving services or get rid of some old belongings before the big move. It may be the most versatile app on this list.
State Farm Move Tools
Move Tools is a comprehensive moving app that provides you with all sorts of interactive checklists and rundowns that you might need for the moving process. An interactive room packing screen, and the ability to print labels for your belongings. This is probably the most comprehensive app on the market.
If you have a lot of belongings, it can be difficult to keep track of them all, this is where it would be very useful for you to have an app which quantifies and categorizes your belongings. Sortly app is based largely on snapping photos and archiving them. From there you can create a visual archive of your belongings and make sure that everything is accounted for. For someone with a lot of valuable belongings, what else would you need?
This one’s a little different but an interesting idea none the less. If you’re moving on your own it might be worthwhile to ‘employ’ someone from TaskRabbit. All ‘taskers’ on the app are reviewed and vetted before you select them, and you can choose a rate to pay them for their services before they arrive. This is an awesome way to get some immediate, reliable help with small tasks.
After a long day of moving, going to the grocery store and cooking a big meal isn’t exactly going to be your highest priority! Pizza Hut has an app that lets you view all of the exclusive deals and get that first meal in your new house delivered straight to your door. Phew!
Whilst these apps can help you with all sorts of little hiccups that you may run into when moving house, there is no real replacement for effective planning. Please check out our other blogs, where we provide weekly resources to help an average mover with one of life’s most stressful tasks!
